Peer Mentors

The UHP Peer Mentor Program matches incoming first-year students with returning UHP students. Mentors use their knowledge of campus life and resources as well as their personal experiences to provide invaluable advice and guidance to mentees. Interest forms for incoming first-years will be available in August. 

 

Yuki Karuta

  • 2nd Year
Yuki (he/him), is from Davis, CA and is majoring in Biomedical Engineering. He aspires to be a surgeon; these days, he enjoys jogging, going to the gym, walking and hiking. On campus, he's involved in HRE, microfluid lab, Neurotech and AMSA.

Haley King

  • 3rd Year
Haley (she/her) is from Martinez, CA and is double majoring in Human Development and Psychology with a minor in Education. In the future she wants to work with children; her interests are swimming, cooking and hanging out with friends. She is a member of UHP, Shift Lead at Segundo Dining Commons, and an Orientation Leader.

Ricardo Guzman-Miranda

  • 3rd Year
Ricardo (he/him) is from Redding, CA and is majoring in Agricultural and Environmental Education. In the future he aspires to be an FFA advisor; in his free time, he enjoys reading, writing, baking, cooking, exercising and learning. On campus he is part of the Aggie Ambassadors and College Corps.

Maccabee Veder

  • 3rd Year
Maccabee (She/Her/Hers) is from Culver City, CA and is majoring in Human Biology. She aspires to a career as a Physician's Assistant (maybe!) and her interests include hiking, the gym, painting, community service, reading(sometimes), cooking/baking, and thrifting.

Marcus Vasankari

  • 3rd Year
Marcus (He/Him/His) is from Santa Cruz, CA; he is majoring in Political Science and minoring in History. In the future, he aspires to work for the EU or UN. His personal interests include writing, reading, roleplaying games and music. On campus, he's casually involved in several clubs.

Jenny Zhao

  • 3rd Year
Jenny (she/her) is here from China, and she is double-majoring in Managerial Economics and Political Science. She hopes to pursue a career in law or business, particularly in corporate or commercial law. She enjoys working out, hiking, skiing, and spending time outdoors through different sports and activities. She also has a passion for coffee making and experimenting with different brewing methods. She is involved in the University Honors Program, College Corps, the Global Fellowship Program. She has also worked with Unitrans as a transit driver and served as an orientation leader, which allowed her to stay connected with and support the Davis community.

Nathan Melo

  • 2nd Year
Nathan (he/him) is from Riverbank and his major is Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior. In the future he aspires to be a Radiologist, and in his free time he enjoys football, videogames, working out, and basketball. On campus he is involved in Phi Kappa Tua and College Corps.

Amaar Rehman

  • 2nd Year
Amaar (he/him) is from Sacramento, CA and majors in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior. In the future he would like to be a physician, but these days he enjoys hiking, going to the gym, gaming and photography. On campus he is the Founder and President of Aggie Society of Emergency Medical Technicians Involvement in the UC Davis Muslim Student Association.

Yurun Shi

  • 3rd Year
Yurun (she/her) is from Beijing, China and majors in Computer Science; in the future, she would like to pursue a Master's degree and possibly a Ph.D. Her interests include going to the farmer's market and plant sales, cooking Chinese food and trying new recipes. On campus she is involved in: Girls Who Code, Cog Sci CSSA, and UHP.

Rahul Rajkumar

  • 3rd Year
Rahul (he/him) is from Seattle, Washington and is studying Human Biology and Nutrition. In the future he aspires to be a surgeon but these days he enjoys both college and professional football. He also has a strong interest in music and movies, dedicating time each week to discovering and reviewing new releases. Additionally, he loves exploring different cuisines and maintaining an active lifestyle through regular workouts. On campus, he is a board member of Circle K, a club oriented towards promoting community service by assembling a team of volunteers for different service projects while simultaneously building a strong social community.
